As Pittsburgh and destination wedding photographers, we’ve had the privilege of capturing bridal gowns in some of the most breathtaking settings.

In recent years, we’ve also had the incredible opportunity to photograph New York Bridal Fashion Week for several seasons. Being surrounded by the world’s most celebrated designers, intricate craftsmanship, and cutting-edge bridal trends has refined the way we approach wedding photography. We’ve learned how fabric behaves under different lighting, how movement transforms a gown in a single frame, and how the smallest couture detail can become a focal point in a timeless image.

For us, wedding dresses aren’t just fabric and design—they’re the centerpiece of a moment, a statement of personality, and the visual thread that ties a wedding story together. Over the years, we’ve seen countless dresses in motion—floating down an aisle, catching golden hour light, or swirling during a first dance. And while we adore the diversity of bridal fashion, there are a few designers whose gowns consistently inspire us behind the lens.

Today, we’re sharing three of our absolute favorites: Berta, Galia Lahav, and Eden Aharon. Whether you’re planning a chic Pittsburgh celebration or a sun-soaked destination wedding, these designers know how to create gowns that photograph like a dream.

The Couture Dream

Galia Lahav

A dress of your dreams

Galia Lahav is couture at its most romantic—think dramatic trains, hand-sewn lace, and silhouettes that feel both timeless and daring. Their gowns have a way of commanding attention without overshadowing the bride herself, and the craftsmanship is nothing short of artistry.

From our own experience

Last October, after a full week of photographing New York Bridal Fashion Week, I (Jez) set out to try on the dresses that had been catching our eye all week. With our 10-year anniversary on the horizon and a vow renewal in mind, I knew I was in need of a gown! One of my first stops—and favorites to this day—was Galia Lahav's NYC Flagship location.

From the first scheduling email to the warm welcome at the door, all the way through the personalized help during each dress try-on, the entire experience was unforgettable. Dress shopping at Galia Lahav truly is a dream.

Still on the hunt for a dress, but I won't be surprised if I say "YES!" to the dress at Galia Lahav.

As photographers, we love how Galia Lahav gowns photograph in wide, sweeping frames—the kind of images that look like they belong in a fashion editorial. They’re perfect for grand ballroom weddings, European villa settings, or any couple who wants that elevated, fairy tale dress shopping experience and the unmatched couture feel on their wedding day.

The Statement Maker dress

Berta is synonymous with bold luxury. Their gowns blend sensual silhouettes with intricate beadwork, daring cuts, and an undeniable runway-ready energy. Every detail—from the shimmering fabric to the sculpted fit—feels intentional and elevated.

From a wedding photographer’s perspective, Berta gowns are pure magic under the camera. The beadwork catches and reflects light beautifully, while the figure-hugging designs create stunning shapes in portraits. These dresses shine in both modern cityscapes and glamorous destination venues.

For Pittsburgh brides, boutiques like Anne Gregory Couture carry Berta’s collections, allowing you to experience these show-stopping designs close to home.

A Photographer’s Tips for Choosing Your Dress

When it comes to selecting your wedding gown, remember—this isn’t just about how you look in the mirror. It’s also about how your dress will live in your photographs for decades to come.

Here are a few things we’ve learned:

Fabric & texture matter. Lace, beading, and tulle interact with light differently.

Movement creates magic. A flowing skirt or dramatic train adds depth and life to images.

Match your gown to your venue & vision. A sleek satin gown feels at home in a modern Pittsburgh loft, while intricate lace may shine in a countryside vineyard.

If you’re not sure what style will translate best in photos, we’re always happy to share our perspective during your planning process.

The Final Frame

Your wedding gown is more than just what you wear—it’s a piece of your story. Whether you’re drawn to Galia Lahav’s couture drama, Berta’s bold glamour, or Eden Aharon’s romantic artistry, choosing a gown you feel incredible in will only elevate your wedding day's photos.

Whether you’re planning your dream wedding in Pittsburgh or chasing sunsets abroad, we’d love to capture your day in a gown that reflects who you are.
